The working name of the first project to be executed in the mobility lab at the Rhine falls is “Route 12”. During the tourist season, from March until October, the bus network of the Verkehrsbetriebe Schaffhausen (VBSH) is to be extended by the new route 12, linking the centre of Neuhausen with Schlössli Wörth, a medieval castle on a small island in the Rhine falls basin.
Route 12 will be operated by the VBSH, by means of the self-driving vehicle that AMoTech has acquired. The vehicle will be integrated into the service control system hosted by Trapeze. The service controllers of VBSH can thus monitor the vehicle from their existing control room.
As soon as all necessary authorisations have been obtained, test operation will start. If everything works out as planned, route 12 can operate according to a timetable from spring 2018 onwards.
